Welcome to The MIFA!

The Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association organizes speech activities in four general areas: debate, theater, individual events and original content. MIFA membership is all-inclusive, encouraging schools to participate in all of our speech activities. 

Member Benefits Include:
  • Eligible to participate in team debate, individual debate, theatre, individual events and original content events
  • Professional Development and Training for coaches and judges
  • Access to resources such as instructional and informational material for all MIFA activities
  • Mentoring and support from MIFA staff, board and committees for your program year-round

Who can become a MIFA member?
Any Michigan high school, junior high school, or middle school may become a member of the Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association.

New Members - Join Today!
New Programs are schools that have not participated in MIFA in the last two school years. The first year of membership for a "New Program" is half price! New Member questions should be directed to Courtney Bassett, Membership Coordinator. 

Please follow these simple steps:
1. Fill out the MIFA "New Member" Application - HERE!
2. Print and fill out the Blanket Principal Authorization Form
 (for both teaching and non-teaching personnel) and send it to Becca Weissman:


You will receive an email with welcome materials within 72 hours of filling out the membership form from our Membership Coordinator. You will also receive an invoice for your membership.

3. Pay your school's membership. Membership dues can be paid in the following ways:

  • By check - made payable to Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association, sent to 30238 Spring River Dr, Southfield, MI 48076

Returning Members - Renew Today! 
In order to make sure your membership is properly renewed for the upcoming school year.

Any changes in contact information for your school should be communicated to Becca Weissman, Business Manager.

​Individual Affiliates
At The MIFA, we believe that speech activities should be available to everyone. Therefore, any individual student enrolled in a middle school or high school in Michigan which is NOT a member of MIFA may apply to become an Individual Affiliate of MIFA and become eligible to participate in MIFA events. Please follow these steps to become an Individual affiliate:
1. Fill out the Individual Affiliate Application - HERE
2. Pay the Individual Affiliate Fee online - HERE

You will receive an email with welcome materials within 72 hours of filling out the Individual Affiliate form from our Membership Coordinator. 
If you are considering joining MIFA but are not ready to fill out an application, contact our knowledgeable staff who are waiting to help! Email the Membership Coordinator.
