New for 2015-16 - MIFA is offering a Studio Theatre division for the State Theatre Festival! Schools may participate in either or both divisions (Studio or Main Stage) of a tri-level series that highlights traveling shows. A maximum of 12 shows per division will advance to the State Festival giving participants the opportunity to present their productions and see a variety of other shows. Humorous and serious themes alternate annually between divisions. For 2015-16, Main Stage productions will be serious and Studio Stage will be humorous.
Studio Theatre: MIFA is excited to announce a new Studio Theatre Division. Studio productions are meant to focus on the actors and the script and making little to no use of extensive technical aspects of a show like sets, lighting or props. More details to come including the official addition of the rules to Speech Activities.
Main Stage rules remain essentially the same.
In addition to 1st through 3rd place State Finalists and a number of special recognition awards, MIFA also presents the Bob Koger Award annually. The award is recognizes the tireless efforts of directors in High School Theatre embodied by Bob Koger. Details. Nomination Form.
