IE Regionals and State Finals Advancement
For the 2024-2025 season, advancement to State Finals happens in one of three ways: 1. Participation at a Regional Tournament. All Regional contestants are eligible to advance. 2. Participation in a Coach Organized Independent Adjudication 3. Or receive a special circumstance bid OPTION 1: Regional Tournaments > MIFA will coordinate 4 Regional tournament sites in conjunction with local hosts as originally planned. > Schools can choose which tournament date/location they attend. Schools may divide their team and attend multiple locations/dates. > Schools are not limited in the number of entries per event. However students may only compete at one Regional tournament. > Tournament directors in conjunction with the Executive Director have broad latitude to set the format to facilitate the tournament including but not limited to: allowing contestants to be evaluated by judges from the same school, breaking section norms to create open sections where judges can be used, flighting the schedule to allow judges to judge more smaller sections, etc. > However contestants qualify, coaches may only advance 2 per category from each school to States.) OPTION 2: Coach Organized Independent Adjudications Anytime during the Regional Window (Mar 23 - Apr 20), coaches can arrange to have their contestants adjudicated by a certified judge. Register contestants & judges in the MIFA Independent Regionals on tabroom.com. The MIFA office will make the assignments within 72 hours and then judges can watch them anytime after. OPTION 3: Special Circumstances Bid - application DEADLINE is 48 hours post regional or 48 hours post close of the regional window. Know that the committee does not anticipate awarding special circumstance bids because the options are highly flexible and the window is nearly a month long. |
