Initial Certification
To judge at a regional or the state tournament, a judge must have completed the initial certification workshop. Workshops are held throughout the state. Check the schedule early. No extra workshops will be added to the schedule once the committee has set it.
Following the workshop, the judge then must judge eight rounds at an invitational or league and provide comfirmation by submitting the 8 Round Judge Form. (See below)  The judge must also submit a list of their preferences on the Judge Information Form and confirmation of judging eight rounds to the MIFA office. (See below) All forms must reach the MIFA office not later than April 1.

Renewal Workshop
The workshop is no longer conducted. In its place is a comprehensive online test. The fee is $25, just as it was for the workshop. If a judge takes the test but fails, s/he will be required to attend the initial workshop again to achieve certification. The fees from the test will be applied to the workshop fees. Here you can find the lists of certified judges as well. One list contains the names of those who are initial certificaitons expiring between 2011 and 2014 and the other are renewed certifications for the same period.
