Any Michigan high school, junior high school, or middle school may become a member of the Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association. A school becomes a member by filling out the fields below and paying the annual fee for membership in the Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association. (You may opt to download and print a paper application form.) In addition, each school should fill out the Principal's Blanket Authorization Form and if the Director is not a teacher, you should also fill out the Non-Teaching Personnel Form.)

The Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association sponsors speech activities in four general categories: debate, discussion, theatre, and individual events. Schools are encouraged to participate in all four of the general categories. We hold State Tournaments in six categories: Novice Policy Debate, Varsity Policy Debate, Legislative Debate, Theatre, Individual Events and Public Forum Debate.

The membership fee is determined by action of the Forensic Council; fees are due on or before November 1. Late re-enrollment will be assessed an additional fee. New memberships will be accepted at any time. For 2012-2013 Class B schools have 449 to 910 students in their February 2012 student counts. Click here to get the paper Membership Application Form. Click here to get the Principal's Blanket Authorization Form. Click here to get the Non-teaching Personnel Form.
